I'm looking for recommendations on the best place to buy restoration parts for a 1972 Ghia convertible. I'd like to keep it as original as possible. I'm looking for minor stuff like visors, convertible headliner, mats, plastic part that goes on the front seat, engine stickers, etc. Most of the bigger items are in great shape already.

A quick google search will reveal several vendors. Some are KG and some are Type 1 stuff. Here are my usual suspects:

Bughaus, mtmfg, jbugs, West Coast metric, Midamerica Motorworks, Airhead Parts/ KarmannGhia, CIP1, Wolfsburg, EISParts, ebay (you'd be surprised but sometimes you find deals here), Samba Classifieds

Personally I made a spreadsheet matrix of vendors and parts as I work through my stock restoration, it has a heat map on it (Excel calls it conditional formatting). This comes in handy so when I need to order a critical part from a vendor I also take a peek to see what else they have that is at a good price so I throw it on the order.

As I buy things I gray them out.

I should also note not all prices are apples-apples.
Sometimes a low price may indicate that one vendor is selling the chinese/brazilian pn vs. a german OE part.

That introduces the subjective part of my restoration process....which parts are worth the extra cost and if I want to feed my family.

KGPR and Wolfsburg west tend to be my top choices. Due to my location I tried to do a couple big orders as shipping price is huge and would outweigh the benefit of shopping around lots of other places. I try to look for higher qaulity items as I've been burnt too many times by going the cheaper option! Good 2nd hand parts are great as often the qaulity is better than the reproduction part.
