This is probably easier to solve than I know... My 79 Campmobile bed has stopped laying down, that is, it seems to only stay at the 90 degree angle even when it would normally lay down. I'm 6'2" so I can't sleep on a 4 foot bed! Any ideas why it won't behave like it did?

Similar occurence last week: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=685209

Thanks! I'll be looking at the hinges closer. I never had a problem before, but maybe something got bent or chipped like Mel22B.

Thanks much again,

I noticed some Westy's have the opening to the pop top facing forward, some backward. Are they interchangeable? Can I buy the pop-top part from a reseller if it's the forward facing one and use it on my back facing?

Don't laugh...

I need to place a wtb ad for a ignition block for my '73 and don't have a picture to show what I need. Can I use a picture that belongs to another member or even from another site in my ad?

Thanks!

The terms of use at thesamba.com specifically grant (non-exclusive) copyright to any content posted there to the owner of thesamba.com and permission to use as he sees fit. When you link to any image that has been posted at thesamba.com, it is the site that is "using" (or reproducing) the image, not the linker, and it is perfectly acceptable. As for images from another site, the usual copyright rules are in effect, and the owner of the image is entitled to object if it is used without permission.

Thank you for this information. I wasn't sure where to look.

I know I've used other member's pictures in the forum threads but I wasn't sure about proper etiquette in regards to using one for a personal ad.

I took a chance and used another member's pic, and hoped I didn't get a warning letter.

Hey guys, I keep having a problem with my oil pressure sender. I bought a vdo single pole oil pressure sender and a T fitting to tap into my block where I can still use the oem style pressure sender on the other end. The setup works but for whatever reason it seems as though the t fitting is loosening on me and leaking oil all over my engine.

This was the particular t fitting I bought.
https://www.egauges.com/T-Adapter-VW-male-M10-x-1-p/240-850.htm

and this is the particular sender I bought.
http://www.egauges.com/80-PSI-5-Bar-M10x1K-10-180-Ohms-Single-p/360-001.htm

The T fitting I counted screwed in about 8 full rotations into the block and I did not want to over tighten it so I left it at that. Now it does seem a bit loose from what I imagine is oil having made it's way past and allowing it to leak. What would you guys do? I was thinking maybe the weight of the 2 senders and t fitting were too much and maybe getting an extension tube and mounting everything to the tin so there isn't weight on the fitting but I want to make sure it doesn't leak anymore.

I know the OE sender is a taper fit and the fitting I bought it m10x1 but that seems to be the correct style of thread. Thoughts? Would some kind of permatex or loctite product be the ideal fix?

You should hang the tee remotely, by running a flexible hose from the sender hole to it. Mine is hung from the firewall. The reason being that the tee can snap off due to vibrations from the engine if it is just screwed into the case.

Blue loctite or permatex will help to stop it from leaking and coming unscrewed, but you should combine that with a tapered fitting.

Would you happen to have a good suggestion for a tapered fitting remote line? I am all ears on that idea.

It would help in preventing hurt feelings if you gave the photographer credit when you use his picture, no matter what the rules of the site say.

Just gotta remember to ground the sender... and use teflon tape where appropriate.

I agree that it's good etiquette to do that. I personally don't care if anyone uses the pictures I post on this site as long as they don't take credit for the picture or work.

The asiab3 Basic Rule of Thumb for Using Samba gallery pictures:

If the owner of the photo is the kind of person who posts helpful things, and is here to help people with their cars, I use it without permission. If the owner of the photo is helpful but kind of a peckerhead, I use the picture without asking and give them credit. (Hi Skills!) If the owner of the picture is a complete asshole, I'll take my own because honestly, if you're posting your pictures on here and you're NOT ok with them being used for the good of the hobby and VW community, you can take your ball and go home. Or purchase your own web server space. Or find a hobby where it's cool to help some and not others.
