Hello all!
My old propane regulator is very tired so I have decided to give it a rest.
i have always wanted to install an extend-a-stay on my van and now is the perfect time to do it while replacing the regulator. However, I noticed two units going under the van is a little too long that I will have to modify three copper lines going into my sink unit and a propex heater. So I was wondering if it's safe to remove "B" and "C" , then just connect the regulator and the extend-a-stay with a short pipe connector. This will make whole assembly at least an inch shorter thus I won't have to modify the copper lines.
Extend-a-stay already has the POL fitting("A") that goes to the main valve's female POL fitting.
So...do I really need another POL fittings("B"+"C") between the two?
Or...that POL fittings are required for the gas that enters from an auxiliary
tank thru the Extend-a-stay port.?
Thanks all in advance.

For a disclaimer, I've never removed my regulator on our Van, and have never eyeballed the extend-a-stay setups, but in my experience as a mechanical contractor I'd say you'd be just fine doing what you propose. Both are on the high pressure side of the regulator. Only hitch would be the thread sizes on each. Likely 1/4" female NPT on both if they are not European.
I suggest removing the POL m/f connectors from each and compare them to a NPT nipple, threads should mesh. Try threading each in by hand. If they won't thread more then a half turn you'll have to try something other then NPT. If they do, tape and tighten. Soap test after you install and pressurize! _________________ '91 Westfalia, Bordeaux Red Pearl 2.1L 2wd Auto

Alaska Berry's is correct, no problem to replace. Don't use teflon tape on gas lines, use pipe dope made for gas, any hardware store has it. _________________ ________________________________________

I got this extend a stay thru bus depot about 10yrs? ago lol. I have been just waiting for the right moment to install. If you go to marshall brass website, they should have many different types extend a stay setup. _________________ 90 westy 2wd w/ TBD |
