I was reading up on the different materials used to make heat exchanges when I noticed that copper dissipates heat much faster than aluminum. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper_in_heat_exchangers If this is the case, why aren't our oil coolers made from copper? Cost? Durability?
Cheers,

Copper gets brittle over the years and heat cycles. _________________ Glenn

Also, "Copper conducts heat better than aluminum, but heat dissipation is quicker in Aluminum". This means that copper will pull the heat out of the oil better then aluminum. However, in an air environment, copper tends to hold onto the heat, where aluminum will shed it quicker. So its one of those things that is a compromise, in cost and longevity. _________________ 69 road Bug 2110
