Removed front seats last fall to get them recovered.
Got them back in now but can't remember exactly where the springs connect to the seat itself.
What is correct?
To the vertical brace for the seatback pivot?
The hole in that brace or bottom of brace?
There isn't any bracket tab as on a beetle.
Did a search, couldn't find any pictures, just the text in the manual.
Just curious - not a big deal.
Asked around here & no one seems to have them on their Things. |

There is a hole on the side of the seat track and another hole on the front right edge of the seat. The spring hooks to these. Getting the spring in place on a Thing is not the easiest procedure. Make sure and have the seat in the full back position. Put the spring on the seat track first and the seat frame last. You might want to bent the second end a bit open to make installation a bit easier. If the seat is not installed yet look at the track carefully and you will see the hole on the inside (next to the trans tunnel) track. If you turn the seat up side down it is easier to see the spring hole. I hope this is of some help. If not let me know and I can take pictures. One of my Things still has stock seats wth the springs in place. |

I agree - this is not the easiest procedure, and keeping the seat in a back position helps. I find that a curved needle nose pliers makes slipping the last part into the seat frame a lot easier. You've got to pull and twist, and it almost feels like you're going to bend the spring, but it'll go in. |

You make a great point. I also use curved needle nose pliers to put the spring in place and it does come right to the point where you feel like you will bend break or ruin the spring. I recently installed offroad suspension seats in my offroad Thing and even getting the springs off was the same hassle as putting them on. |

The seats on my car were missing the springs from the PO. I think I see where it hooks to the track but cannot find the hole in the frame.
Does anyone have a photo showing the hole in the frame? Also if you have one for the track to be sure I have the correct one.
Thanks. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

My springs are sitting in a box on my workbench. Great place for them. Seats slide fine without them.
I'm the only driver. Passenger seat is set all the way back. _________________ Walküre Restoration Thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=737492 |

I hear you. Mine are the same but the wife now wants to drive the car at times. She is 5'2", I'm 6'2". She had difficulty sliding the seat. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

My wife can't drive a manual. One of the reasons I bought it. _________________ Walküre Restoration Thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=737492 |

Still trying to figure out how the springs attach. I have brand new ones that I received from TTS. Here is a photo of my seat bottom and my track. Does anyone know where the attachment points are?
Thanks.

Install my seats, now that I figured out which is left and right. I also cannot see where the tension spring hooks to the actual seat.
Anyone have a photo? _________________ And then there were two...downsized to 83 Doka &

Driver's side. Looking aft from in front of the front seat.
Driver's side. Looking forward from aft of the rear seat.

CPT, Thanks for the photo. I hadn't even considered that location. _________________ And then there were two...downsized to 83 Doka &
