Did Canadian Beetles come with emergency flashers in `66? I known that US models did and that Euro models did not. I don't know about Canadian ones. |

For sure ...'66 was the first year for the flasher in Beetles ...Canadian ones included. It goes in that hole above the ignition switch .....not sure what's going on with the 'non-factory' holes .... _________________ "If you can't fix it with pop rivets, crazy glue and duct tape, or hold it together with zip ties, velcro or magnets, it REALLY is broken." |

It does not still have the heater. I assume it was under the hood as there is a cut out on the right hand side.

My 1966, VIN 116066737, body and chassis match.. It was originally Sea Blue with a cream interior, but a previous owner changed it to the Coral color you see now. Interior is black, they added gauges. Sadly, the original 1300 is long gone, it's got a 1600 from a 1973 Bug, converted to 12v. But it's my first Bug, so I'm excited to fix it up and make it my own!

This is my Sea Sand '66 Sunroof Sedan that I pulled out of a Philadelphia garage. It has a black interior. To my knowledge, it never left the Philly area until I got it (it's in Maryland now). It has rear fenders and a bumper from a '67 for some reason so that will have to be addressed eventually. It has 51 thousand miles on it that I believe to be accurate. It is all original as far as I know and I plan on keeping it that way. It doesn't run right now but it should be soon.

1966 Canadian Beetle. VIN and engine number would make it a March 1966 build. Just sent away for birth certificate.
|
It took just over 4 months but I got my birth certificate. Delivered to Toronto Canada April 1st 1966. Even got the added bonus that VIN and engine number match their records as original.
Anyone know about M356 Equipment for Canada or M051 are?

That switch on your dash originally controlled the Webasto gas heater that mounts on top of the transmission. The hole under your hood is the common location for the Eberspacher hot air outlet. Maybe one of those was retrofitted later, or perhaps that hole was for some other accessory added to the car in its lifetime. _________________ 1974 "Restfalia" Camper 2000 cc EFI 2001-

The beetle still has the Webasto gas heater on top of the transmission. I assume someone also put in the Eberspacher Heater under the hood at some point because i also have a hole at the wheel for exhaust.

My first VW was a '66 that I bought from the original family when I was eight years old (with a little help from Dad). It's currently apart for a full restoration. The frame has new pans and has been powdercoated, and the bodywork is roughly halfway done. I've collected a full set of OG Pigalle door/quarter panels, rear seat kick panels, and floor mats so far from various swap meets.
VIN is 116988325, late May/early June build date.
Engine #F0866910
Originally Black/Pigalle Hardtop, will be restored in the same colors.

My 1966 beetle.
VIN 1161000671. Built 22 June 1966 - Delivered to 23 June 1966 to Kempton / Germany.
L87 Pearl White, Pigalle Red interior, M107 Bumpers with Guards.
I suspect it was delivered to a member of the US armed forces based there, before it made its way back to the US. The original speedometer had been replaced with an earlier date stamped mph one when it came to the US.
How I received it in August 2015.
The car was located in San Jose California. It had been disassembled in 1999 and abandoned as a project ever since. Originally it had had a problem with the clutch pedal shaft and the owner then decided to "restore it".
2.5 years later it looks a little bit different.
Body, Pan and Engine are still original numbers matching. Although a previous owner had taken the engine from 1300cc single port to 1600cc double port.
I've tried to keep it as stock as possible with only the addition of accessory parts. |
