Would like to replace all front speakers in my 2003 eurovan. Keeping stock head unit for now. Lots of posts on this subject delving into all the nuances of achieving highest fidelity audio experience but I just need to find some decent replacements for these speakers to do a basic plug and play install. Using crutchfields guides but just had a few questions regarding the dash/tweeters.
The stock dash/tweeters in the 2001-2003 eurovan have built in crossovers correct? So I should find dash/speakers that also have built in crossovers?
Do I need to worry about what frequencies each speakers needs or sends to work properly?
Door speakers are no brainers for me but anyone have a good recommendation of dash/tweeters that worked well and were somewhat easy peasy to install?
As always many thanks to you all. |

I just did a write up on front speaker replacement in the latest generation Eurovans. Read more on the DIY here
The stock tweeters have a capacitor mounted to them, thats the only cross over. Any separate tweeter you buy will have some sort of cross over included. |

I went with these Rockford Fosgate Prime R165-S component speakers from Crutchfield (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575R165S/Rockford-Fosgate-Prime-R165-S.html?tp=106&omnews=14481135)
Install was a breeze. The door speakers line up perfectly and crutchfield sent some Metra 71-017C Speaker Wiring Harnesses which plugged into Eurovan harnesses.
Dash tweeters took some work. I carved out the original tweeter with a dremel and made a hole for the new tweeter. Soldered tweeter wires to the dual harness so as to use the same eurovan speaker harnesses.
Sounds is pretty good. bass is decent. _________________ The best part about my VW is working on my VW, the worst part of my VW is working on my VW. Tinker Life! |
