I have Bosch distributor VJU4BRB and 57 Oval. Is there a notch that the rotor points to for timing? I cannot find one. With the pully notch lined with the center of the case, the rotor is pointing to number one wire on the distributor. To confirm, going counterclockwise from number one the order should be 1234. I had a perfectly running engine before taking it out to replace the pressure plate, clutch, TO bearing, spark plugs and wires. After installing the engine, it’s sputtering and barely runs. The gas is pumping fine so I’m thinking it electrical.

Thanks

Double check the plug wire routing . . . and the dwell/point gap.

Yes - VJU 4 BR 8 is correct. Could someone please post a picture of the distributor showing where the rotor is pointing when the pulley mark is line up with the case and pointing to #1 on the distributor.

Thank you

When looking down on the distributor from above, the rotor should point in the 4 or 5 o'clock position.
