I don't know why I'm so foolish as to waste more time on this.
YES reinforcing the the heater channels would strengthen the body/chassis structure. Or better...NOT reinforce the heater channels and build a whole roll cage from beam to rear torsion housing like most everybody else who wants a Baja with a stronger chassis does. You're looking for new solutions to issues that people have dealt with for 60 years. YES some of the body lift kits WILL help reinforce the body/chassis structure. Most of them are made of thin sheet metal formed into a 'C' shape. One that's made of .095 wall rectangular tube WILL help.
So will adding square or rectangular tubing into the body bolt channel with longer body bolts. There are a number of ways to reinforce the body structure that have been used for decades.
But the stock VW body and pan make a very strong structure just the way they were made. MOST Baja Bugs never get roll cages, or heater channel reinforcements. And never need such reinforcement.
You have not yet indicated to those of us who have done a lot of work to help you, just where you live, or where and how you intend to use a Baja Bug. Or anything else about what this fictional Baja Bug is going to be subjected to. Whether it's a street-only Baja for getting to and from school that you think might be cool. Or you are hoping to fly like you're part of Nitro Circus.
So before you post any more questions, sit down and think through what you're hopes and plans are and tell us where in the world you are at. Somebody who lives in the desert of Arizona will use their Baja WAY different from somebody who lives in Nova Scotia who will use theirs WAY different from someone who lives in South Florida or Alabama.
Then TELL US. And show some more understanding of what you've been told so the people on here will want to help you again. As you can see, if you are at all intelligent, you've been pissing people off so far and they're getting close to asking for you to be banned from the Samba forums. The natives are restless. _________________ Richard
