I tried too- if I understood correctly from communication with seller, first caller bought. I thanked seller for passing the van on at such a fair price- I'dactually seen the van at a local campground, so knew it was legit.
I thought about posting here, but decided I should let the locals (including me) have a crack at it first. What's y'alls thoughts on the etiquette when stuff like this comes up? _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. No issue waiting until you have had a crack at it. All is fair in...... _________________ Dave O

"Here we have a 1988 Volkswagen Vanagon with 129k miles. This van is clean inside and out, and it does not have any rust. This vehicle came from a lovely couple who own it for many years and keep it in excellent condition. They have log everything from oil changes to how many miles they drove it and how long it has been sitting. I have all the maintains records on the van, and it will be included with the purchase. The Van starts and drives and shift smoothly. The engine does not leak oil, and it has couple new parts such as a new water pump, new belts, new thermostat, and new thermostat housing. The only problem with the van is the coolant distributor has rotted and needed to be replaced. (it is shown on one of the pictures) I have an in-depth video of the van's interior and the van running. Please check out the video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLCBa-MrrG0) Please copy and paste the link into your browser. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this van, thank you for viewing. You can reach me at 443-703-8six six 4 and I do not need help selling my car." |

A Syncro 16 for only 3,900Euro! What's the catch? Click the link and see why it's priced that way. The dash picture should tell you the level of attention the owner put into it.

Sorry for the cross post.
Bought this van dead out of Wisconsin for 2 thousand plus shipping to the west coast.
Rust is not as ugly as it looks, all suspension and frame is super solid. Gas tank is rusty and a failed repair on the right rear corner is showing its age.
Interior is complete with all curtains and owners manuals. Has tables and bug screens. Interior is Disassembled for rust repair which was done years ago and not put back together again.
This is a full power van. Windows and door locks are fully functional and all lights works. Unsure of my direction, most likely will send to Europe, as a summer vehicle.

Great price for a late model full power Westy even if you used as a donor into a rust free shell. |

Check this one out...3K for a good looking 86 that needs some mechanical work. Seems like an honest seller, has listed what's been done and what is still needed.

I think the person has no idea. It was listed at 8K last week, prior to the inspection. _________________ '86 VW Westy, Brown, 4spd.

Hi friends. Do you guys have any thoughts about this van?
-Wil |
You were o.k. starting a thread about looking for a van. That is what lots of peole do and is a good way to find something. This van isn't that nice. If you could compare this van to the other van you posted, I think you would be surprised at the difference. If you are passing on that other van and wondering about this one, I don't think you are looking at the same things we are. And don't let the crazy replies get to you. I don't know where some of those comments came from on that last van. They scared you away from something that was worth checking out.
It is hard to tell from photos but you can zoom in on them on a big screen and sometimes see the problems. This van has been for sale for a while. That front black treatment is bedliner and looks bad. Fixing would be expensive. Unrestored probably means it needs a bit of everything. And it is a weekender not a camper, but either one is o.k. but Weekender are usually cheaper. You should try to look at any vans that are close to you. You will start to see the huge variation from one to the next. |
