14" wheels? Amber blinkers. Can't tell if it has washers. Wouldn't it have jalousies if? |
Late 63 - 64, it's ruby red.
If it's a euro sold westy I'd say no on the jalousies. And I don't think they started the jalousies till the SO-42, anyway.
It does have M175 bumpers and I 'm guessing is in Egypt or some such with the camel, (though the writing is not in Arabic) so probably a special order for pick up in Europe to bring back here.
Could be a flip hatch, maybe we just can't see it? Weren't washers still an option in 64, not standard equip till 65. |
Yes, I was wondering if it was a Hatch top that we could not see due to the angle.
It's looks like a '63 to me because of the push-button handles.
Yes, on the washers - that would be an option in 1964.
I don't see washers on that Bus but it may only be me. |

If push buttons started in Dec. '63, wouldn't that make it a '64? _________________

I believe 'yes' on the special order for export as that's what the oval 'Z' plates represented. My 84 year old neighbor gave me hers that she kept from 1967. Unfortunately she doesn't still have the bus! |

Where's that dumpster? We got cargo to haul! |
I remember the day my father called me and said, "It's time to take your abandoned #$@&% VW seat to the dump. I'm tired of tripping over it!" The second I let go of it after pitching out of the back of his truck into the landfill I was thinking, "Hmmmm...I wonder if I'll ever regret not finding a place for that, the upholstery is like new. I might be able to fix a front seat with the good cover if I ever waste one." |

In Blue Baron's photo it looks like the man is saying, "Want to play doctor?"
Is the Shoe Shine Bus M-coded? Is the seat a middle seat turned sideways? Since it's a Jitney Bus does the shoe-shine boy have to run next to it while he slaps? |

Sheesh, talk about immersed in VW; those kids grew up with their noses embedded in the scent of gear oil and fumes.
That photo is the apotheosis of vintage. |
