Took pump off and had fuel inside it, but no fuel exiting the pump to get the bus to run. Its a 1977 baywindow. New pump, lines, filter... what am I doing wrong? Where should I be looking?

Assuming this is the original fuel injected engine, and not modified, did you check voltage at the pump? There are wires, switched, connectors, and relays involved so start at the pump.
If the engine is modified you need to tell us what is there now rather than an " I have a goat who is sick guess why..."
Also maybe you might want to take a step back here since you are dealing with very flammable fuel, look around and make sure there are no water heaters, electric motors, sparks etc nearby. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

What was your original problem? The fuel pump isn't going to run without both power and a good ground. |

I got it to work. The guy who owned it before me had messed with wires and this whole time i was just over looking the ground wire. He had it unhooked and tucked into a sleeve.
Now i am getting it to want to start, but having back fire issues. Gonna check the points... any other suggestions? Also, the ignition coil seems hot to the touch. Its a pertronix flame thrower 40000 3.0ohm
Its all original except for what I have replaced (gas tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, voltage regulator, ignition coil, spark plugs/kit, battery) _________________ 1977 VW Baywindow |

If you leave the ignition on for very long without the engine actually running the coil can get very hot.
As for the backfire the timing could be way off or you may have a couple of the wires in the wrong order. |
