Pretrip work.

I haven't pulled a plug since I got it running a couple of years ago. Embarassed

Thought as a preventative step I would see how things are looking.......

Here are my plugs, 1-4 with #1 on the left..... I'm guessing 12 - 13,000 miles on them.

Edit: looking at this photo, that #2 plug has some interesting growth in it???
I'll be checking that out in the light of day tomorrow!

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I'm quite happy with them, they would run many more miles but, they are out and why put old back in? BTW ...... NGK BP6ET

Cold compression.....
#1 - 145
#2 - 145
#3 - 155
#4 - 145

No complaints! (Fuel pump disconnected)
If they were wild off I'd run it and do a hot test, both wet and dry. But no need to do this. Besides, I'm NOT a fan of pulling hot plugs out of an aluminum head, I've seen too many threads cone out with them!

I did order some wires, this is the #1 wire where it rubbed on the injection harness...... see the concave wear by the screw driver tip?

Makes me wonder what other wear spots there are on the wires and if so, which ones are against conductive metal bits?

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I'm also going though checking every fuel hose clamp and coolant clamp.
Air Filter is good.
Belts are good.

Dave, those steps you have installed under the passenger footwell and the slider door, have you posted about them before. I would love that one under the slider so my kid didn't have such a hard time getting in and out when wearing his leg braces!

I just installed a new Master Brake Cylinder.

I sourced a FTE H23932.0.1 made in Italy cylinder.

It replaces my Bendix cylinder that I rebuilt a number of years ago.

I had the "sinking brake pedal" syndrome.

The job should have taken 45 minutes or so but SOMEBODY failed to plug in the low level sensor and had to remove the cluster again to find it!!!!
He works cheap so I can't be too angry with him......

I bench bled the cylinder and once installed it seems fine. The unit Brakes well and checking for air by pumping the pedal changes nothing.

Sounds like you should call him out in the feedback topic so no one else gets taken in by this guy......

Sadly, that same SOMEBODY failed me twice!!!
Drove the Van out to the house in Pennsylvania, it's getting dark, I flip the rocker switch to turn on the lights...... NOTHING!!!

I'm losing my confidence in this somebody guy.....

It was a 60 second fix (plug in the headlight switch plug) but still...... my Wife simply smiled demurely ........ she's BTDT way too many times during her 47 years with me!

Basic maintenance........ check the brakes, rotate the tires, tighten clamps yada yada yada. .....

The rear brakes are wearing great! My bottom pivots float free and without shims BTW....... 😂

I did adjust the brakes while I was in there.

My rear LED brake light flasher arrived today, didn't get it wired yet but looks easy enough.......

And I thought that I could either try out my Snow Chains at the foot of a snowy pass in Montana........

Or......

In the comfort of my garage while rotating tires on a warm Fall afternoon......

Which option do you think I chose???

Dave those chains are way too loose. Looks they are not the right size for that tire size.

Thanks Dave,
I am running 185R14C tires.

These are the SZ331 chains recommended and the fit is spot on with the manufacturers photos.

http://www.vulcantire.com/cgi-bin/chainsearch.cgi

They are actually quite tight. They do need to be adjusted to be even.

Keep in mind that these are designed for small clearances in the wheel well so the assembly hardware is located down near the rim so as not to bang on the fenders.

They were super easy to install. My hope is to never put them on again! Like insurance, you have it but never want to use it.

Dave, I hear you but that pic shows a lot of slop in the fit. Look at the gap between the cable chain and the tire at the top. I have a similar set and they are very tight against the tire when installed. YMMV.

Dave,

I found a website that indicates that the chains you have are too big for a 185R14.

>>>>>>>>>>
SZ331

Fits: 185/75-15, 195/70-15, 195/75-15, 205/55-16, 205/75-14, 215/50-17, 215/55-16, 215/60-15, 225/50-16, 225/50-17, 245/50-15
This tire listing is to be used as a guide only. Actual fitment may vary. Please call for more information.
