I just finished a top end rebuild and added dual ICT carbs to my 72 SP.
She was running pretty well but not as good as I liked so I started tinkering and checking everything. On a whim, I replaced the SVDA with a different SVDA and then with a crappy old Bosch 009 and now it runs like a champ!
Is a mech advance distributor the best option for a (my) dual carb set up? _________________ 72 Super - Marina Blue

I'm no expert. But since your set up is no longer stock and it runs like a champ. Keep using it. What's the details on your timing? _________________ Keep on Busin'

I'm no expert either. I did run a SVDa with my ict's and it worked well.
I'm still not sure the vacuum port on those carbs is correct for the svda.
It ran well so I left it alone. I never tried an 009 on those.
Bocsh 034 distributor, I have never tried any newer aftermarket distributors.
On the Kadrons I have now, which are similar to the ICT in my opinion, I have run a 034, an 019, and a 009, all German made, I can't tell any difference between any of them. I run the 019 because its oldest, cast iron, made in 1960 something or other. _________________ 1972 1302

I run the 009 at 28 degrees max.
I don't have an OE 034. I have a couple knockoffs. One of those worked flawlessly when I was running the 34 pict 3.
I really question whether the vacuum signal is SVDA correct with the ICT setup. I mean it worked.... but it clearly runs better with the 009. If this continues after I play with it some more.....I may just get a 010 or 019 and call it good.
That 009 I'm using has got about a million miles on it and is really loose. _________________ 72 Super - Marina Blue

Mike W how are you timing the SVDA? Try your 28 max with the vacuum line disconnected and see if that works. _________________ 1972 1302

I was thinking that I would try exactly that tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. Honestly, I can't remember how I timed it when I hooked it up. Maybe I didn't do a max 28* to 32*??? My Pertronix Coil is on back order so I was running the Pertronix SVDA with a blue coil....might be part of the equation.
If the Pertronix SVDA works well, I'll save up for a Bosch 034 and call it good. If not, I'll probably go with a 019. _________________ 72 Super - Marina Blue

Another thing.....
I only hooked up the vacuum line to one carb and plugged the other. Wonder what using a "t" in the line would do as far as vacuum strength? _________________ 72 Super - Marina Blue

The SVDA vacuum can's require lots of vacuum. They usually start to pull around 140MM HG and reach full advance around 200-230MM HG. So, you have to tap into a strong vacuum signal to achieve this much vacuum. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]
