|
|
Hi
My Bug is Bahama Blue (white/cream doors ). The wheels are white, however I am ordering some new wide white wall tires and I think having the wheel color white will be too much. I want to paint the wheels a dark red or OEM Bahama Blue. I may do a trial of each. I have seen a few companies that offer touch up paint in 1964 VW colors, does anyone have a recommended vendor for a rattle can ? If I go with the red it wont matter. I also think the OEM colors for spray only come in the base coat...so I would have to clear as well. I don't have the $$ to go to a paint /body shop.
Thanks

With the correct color code any good paint shop can mix you up a rattle can or two of an original color, two stage or single. Any NAPA with a paint department can do so as well. Certainly not as cheap as hardware store rattle cans, but not too expensive. I paid $11.99 per can a few years ago at NAPA |

www.towerpaint.com mixes car colors in enamel or acrylic lacquer base coat & clear coat spray cans. Two tone looks better than a single color? Original paint Beetle wheels on my squareback when I bought it.

Marty's Paint Supply in Baltimore MD were able to match an old L313 color code for me. They can take the Glasurit code. PPG code will not work. _________________ I love this analog addition to my over digitzed life. |

I know paintscratch can match factory colors and put them in a spray can. |

Like Dan said, just about any decent paint supplier can put whatever paint you want in a can. They would also have clear coat in a spray can too if that's what you wanted. I did my wife's car in 2 tone for the very same reason. I used base/clear but I also have access to it.
Her car is 2 tone as well. I don't have a pic after I put the white walls on it.
