in the wake of the photobucket mess, I have been trying a few options.

google seems that it may work well for me. but, the code only shows up in the forum as just that...a code.

I tried a few different things to no avail. the img and url tags don't do anything here.

does google not allow for such a thing? I did spend some time on google trying different codes like adding ?.jpg or -tmp.jpg. to the end of the image code.

any thoughts?

Are you opening the image in a new tab then pasting it into the img tags?

Maybe this older thread has some info?

I did see that. and the same results using the [img] tags here....

message said "click to see full screen" and the same results as posted in that thread.

seems that the image string doesn't have the .jpg at the end of it.

here is a quote from the user in that thread showing the code strings. I am seeing the same here when I try my photos

Quote:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I got a extension that would change the image to a .JPG file and that doesn't work either.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

looks like you'll have to quote what I posted to see the image string posted above. (so, quote my post and look at the string. that is what I am working with)

on g00gle's help page, I tried to add -no-tmp.jpg to the end of my photos, to no avail. there were a few other suggestions I tried as well.

From a very knowledgeable guy who runs his own small VW Forum, his suggested work around to use your uploaded photos on Google Photo (formerly Picassa) is below.

This works fine for me for non VW pictures and I don't need to annoy Everett any further by uploading more Ford pictures to show paint chip corrections Wink

Take one of your google photo picture links shown in Google Photos for a given picture and put it in a browser.

The link below if from Google Photo and this link cannot be wrapped by "img" tags but it views fine when you copy and paste it in to a Browser URL bar:

https://goo.gl/photos/WZ9vA6W9JEXa9yP38

If you use "img" tags on the link above you will see an image error message in your post and can click this message to view the picture via the link.
For Example:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

As you view the picture in a Browser you are still looking at an HTML page and the URL now shown in the Browser URL bar (it will be different from the original picture link that you copied and pasted in to the URL bar) is still no good and wont work for an "img' post on The Samba.

Examples:

URL Bar link now.
https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOEwyKngUo9uE...1rNC1CcU13

Wont work with "img" tags. Example below shows URL in "img" tags.
[img]https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOEwyKngUo9uEmp2dpof2ZqPlzZLa-EHtG6qD8dJeBrqoAsCMcB89TXuyU6UCJt3Q/photo/AF1QipM0J-0h9-n3t3HbaXQ0als0wzCa_fGYeHzd029f?key=N2hEZ0wxanBxenV0M0Faa0RpZmFYd01rNC1CcU13[/img]

To post your picture on The Samba you need to Right click the image that is shown in the Browser and select "Copy Image Address".
This is the URL you want that you can use in an "img" tagged normal Image post on The Samba.

Put that Copied image address between the standard image tags and you should get the image posted on The Samba correctly as shown below:

(My First VW after its first wreck - 1983)
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Hope this helps.

thank you

I have had some complaints about photos not working....

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=687254

I can see them on my end, on IE and on chrome....

is it a space issue on the post, or what? I can't seem to figure it out on my end....but I can see them fine, as most can. I don't get it...

I don't see the last 2 photos in that thread in Chrome.
I tried my Firefox install and same thing - last 2 photos.

There is no such thing as a space issue when posting photos.

Glad the work around worked for you.
I find it very useful on sites that do not host their own photos like The Samba does.

I looked at your post and see the same as others say they see, most pictures are fine but a couple seem broken (nice work in the posts too!).

My best guess is there is an extra space or something that makes the link address you used invalid for the photos that wont display correctly.

The post above made me think of something - it's possible you can see them and we cannot because you are logged into your Google account.

We can't see them because we don't have access.

I have seen this happen with other things on the internet in the past.

Of course this doesn't help you, unless there is something you can change to make them have public access or if there is another link that works so they will display to everyone.
