The rotors I have have the centering ring, however the wheels I want to install do not.
Are there rotors for a 76that do not have that ring, or can I have it turned down on a lathe?
Thanks in advance.

No. That centering ring is not a "centering" ring....just because it also happens to do that.
It is a strengthening ring that along with the thicker rotor allowed the rotor not to flex and the piston to cock slightly in the bore during hard turns.
The earlier rotor that does not have that ring....but also uses a narrower caliper with thinner pads....and the later models of the earlier calipers also had a special pin and clutch inside that was designed to prevent the piston from pushing back during flexing.
The earlier rotor and caliper uses a different spindle and steering knuckle.
The later caliper, rotor combo you have is better than the earlier one.
You "might" be able....and in fact should be able to put the earlier steering knuckle, spindle, calipers and rotors on your car.
And no...you cannot machine off that ring. The rotors are designed the way they are takimg into account rigidity and heat expansions and shedding. I have seen two people who shaved that ring off and their rotors were susceptible to warping. Ray |

Thanks ray.
I gotta learn to verify before posting questions, or at least ask question more directly?
Turns out the Fuchs are opened up to accommodate that ring.
Had I taken them off the car I’d bought for these wheels , I’d have discovered that.
Was going to hate having to spend more money to utilize the wheels I’d gotten for a song and a dance.
Thanks again, Ray.

you could always take the wheels to a machine shop and cut the circle into them. Fuchs and Mahle factory 914 wheels had the cut for the center disc, early pedrini wheels did not, late 73 only pedrini wheels part number ending in 01 did |
