After many facebook bans, i now have to join a forum.

I am taking my speedometer apart as it seized up on the highway after 96,900 miles. The plastic needle broke. Grease inside shaft area dried up causing noise and then failure with needle breaking. I am straightening the tiny needle wire and recoiling it. Will glue needle back on. And use petroleum jelly to lubricate plastic screws and input cable shaft.

Thinking while it is apart i may make notches to indicate local speed limits on the mph gauge.

Nice wagon. I couldn't even tell it was a Beetle until I looked at the wheels.

What about the fenders, tail lights, rear engine and single QP muffler?

What's with all the Facebook bans?

Very cool car!!! and a big welcome.

Tell us more about your ride? More photos?

the speedo spring alterations can have a big effect on speedo accuracy. rewinding it may effect it a lot. the classified ads here on the samba might find you a better speedo.

by the way, Faceplant and Phuckerberg suck.

good luck on the speedo, keep Bugin!

I couldn't agree more- the windings and finishing tension are absolutely essential if you rely on your speedo. I'd find a clapped out one for $5 at the next swap meet. Most of them still work fine but get discarded when they start looking bad.
