I tried to put the panels and then broke the 5 clips.
I designed it for 10 minutes and printed it for a few minutes.
it makes me happy.

Maybe that nylon piece on the back the 70's bus wiper switch --only thicker cross the back-- now that would be something to see.

Started working on some makeshift rubber mats for my '71 after tearing out the PO's speaker box carpet interior. My original idea was to use tractor trailer mud flaps to add some more character, but I have a good friend that works for a certain uniform company, and was able to get him to swipe a few ribbed rubber mats. I measured and made a layout of the floor. Finished the first mat, but was a little off of the seat belt holes. The mats are 44 3/4" wide, so they don't go all the way front to back. Need to cut the second mat for the rear portion later today or next weekend.

Laid it all out with a chalk marker on underside and cut with regular ol' box cutter (blue lines were incorrect because I had the front to rear offset wrong - had to use a second color):
Missed the seat belt holes a little:
As you can see, the 44 3/4" width & 60" length lays the mat right at the corner of the gusset for the sliding door opening. It works out well, but there will be a seam in the mat where the second one lays in behind the first one.
I will share the files until I no longer have Google Drive, if that ever happens.

The last 3 weeks I have been fixing my steering box (play and leaking), painted my luggage rack, changed the center pin, installed new rear bearings, put new grease in the front ones and also installed new bushings around the spring plates. Fixed the brake warning light.

Did the break in tune up to my new scat 1776 motor with a new Rancho transmission with a 4.56 RP.
Doing 70 mph in a 69 deluxe is a beautiful thing!

Tightened up the heating system tubing after vacuuming out innards... and replaced the drivers side window regulator.

Went to VOlkstock AZ 2017. Had an accident with a big rig kicking up anothers tractor-trailer blow-out tire and in turn, taking out my engine in the long run. was a 650+ mile round trip, but 273 of those miles, she was on a flatbed.

Re installed the Engine bay foam sealer piece, hooked up the Auto trans dipstick, refilled with fresh trans fluid. Had the engine out the last three weeks, put her back in Saturday. Had an oil cooler leak, installed a new one, also put a reman Bosch 55 Amp alternator in. Old one had bad diodes. Renewed the Trans front seal while the engine was out of the way. It had been parked for the last two years, had a guy living in her one winter. had to get a Vehicle ready for my wife, a 2001 pathfinder. Cleaned the heat exchangers of all the old oil from the last 40 years, renewed the rear main seal, Valve cover gaskets, pushrod tube seals, oil pump gasket, screen plate O Ring, 2 motor mounts, full tune [plugs,points, condenser,cap rotor, Dizzy o ring. and put a metal timing scale with readable numbers on her. renewed the + battery cable, took out the starter, cleaned up, and tightened up the solenoid mounting. New fuel lines now from tank to carb[8 years old] Rebuilt the Weber center mount, renewed the intake gaskets. Bought some new hardware to replace the old rusty originals.

Continued................Used Gunk engine degreaser in the trans area, the heater boxes were oily, as was the floor above the transaxle. 40 years , it can accumulate. Put a 2 year old Les Schwab premium battery in, it was in my 04 Corrolla, put the cheapy one from the bus in the toy. Took all the cooling tin off, cleaned and painted , re installed with new screws from the Halsey Ave. Parts dealer in Portland. Got two custom door window cranks, the old ones were shabby. New Coil is mounted to the cleaned and painted fan housing. Will get some pics up from the old lady's smartphone soon. Coming down to the last few bits[heater boxes, fuel the tank, check fuel pump pressure] to get her rolling again. Really been an enjoyable freshening of this old girl.

Continued...........vacuum brake booster vacuum line hooked up, torque converter bolts installed, driver side frame to mustache bar fasteners tightened up. Regulator fastened to firewall, plugged in, need a small fix on the two shielded wires, will sort that, new connectors. round panel passenger side in. Bottom tin on driver side installed.

good day today, hooked fuel line to pressure regulator, bolted up the electric blower motor assy., duct pieces attached to the tin, and to the fan housing. Renewed 6 light bulbs in the rear taillight housings, one was out, I put em all in cause the other five are of similar age and service cycles. Hooked up the Ground strap for the battery, no explosions, or meltdowns. YAH!. Leftover turkey dinner now. More tomorrow, gaaad willing.

Doing front ball joints and brakes. I installed new tie rods in October. Next will be the steering box, drag link and center pivot bushing. |

So far so good. I got a set of arms with new ball joints pressed in from Wolfgang Int. They installed easy enough but knew what to expect having done this job enough times in a former carrier. I still have to finish up the brake work to get it rolling.
I am also going through a spare steering box I have. As soon as I get the new seals I ordered I can do the final assembly of the box and put it in my camper along with a new drag link and center pivot, pin kit. There are a few more things in relation to that I still need to source at this point. |

well, pulled the dash out, got access to the heater control knobs. The blue one is being superglued together overnite. Hooked up the cables to the heater box pieces , checked operation. alles gut! Going to pull and clean all the dashboard electrical connections while it is out. Fabbed up a screen for the engine fan, 2.00 bucks worth of hardware cloth, tin snips. install tomorrow. Clock still works, the dash lights function better with the new headlight switch.

Cleaned out the heat exchangers with my propane weedburner, no nasty oil inside now. Gasoline used for the engine tin, got it nice for repaining. Used new screws for tin assembly. Muffler is made in Denmark, picked up in Portland Or about 3 years ago. good prep of metal, used Hi Heat Paint on it and the tailpipe. New gaskets, liberal coating of KW copper with a dauber in the can. New hardware used here.
