Just to let you know.....I wish you the very best....but your NOS struts will fail in very short order.

Never buy struts and shocks over about 5 years old. The rubber upper rod seal is the part that fails.

If these happen to be ORIGINAL VW struts.....the next problem will be what fluid and how much to fill them with. A very small difference in volume or viscosity can blow the upper shaft seal or cause the strut to run dry and overheat.....but they can be made to work.

You have the early style bonded rubber bushing with ball bearing assembly... jt they could also be the early friction bearing. Look for a part #.

They can be interchanged....but some spacer changes need to be done to use the very early mounts with the middle years mounts.

The super beetle early models....1971-73...are functionally the same as the middle years of 411...meaning from about 1970 up late 71 or 72. But....the mounting plates are the assymetrical bolt pattern. You can clearance the mounting plate ends and relocate your mounting holes and use these.

Personally.....if you are going to that much trouble....I would switch to the late model bushings and mounts....and also do the Audi strut mod. Then you would have greatly improved handling and fully replaceable parts.

The how to is here:

You should also do the centerlink rebuild....its dirt cheap.
