I do agree, great explanatory video airkooledchris. I never knew such a thing existed, but that's only showing my ignorance Oh well, now I do |
Does it work with FI?
I defiantly think its neat. I remember a big diagnostic center being for sale a couple years back in Texas? It was the size of a rolling tool box? But this little guy would do. I may have to get one |
It doesn't really matter if you have FI or not with this. It's just a fancy machine to check your idle/timing/dwell settings. Nothing you can't do already with basic equipment in your garage, but without the cool factor. :p
You can still track down original sensor wires for the flywheel portion of the connection, IF you can find one that still has that cable connected.
They clean up easy, so I wouldn't be worried about one looking all grungy so long as all of the original cables and connectors are there (even if frayed or broken along the cable length, stuff you can easily repair.) |

I love ... my own content ... displayed.
That was a cool little toy to play with. I only wish I had the pickup for the flywheel still on my case to check the timing with it (when I still had it.)
I eventually let it go to someone local to me. As with anything VW related, I wish I still had it |
Thanks for the nice instructional video. Hopefully it works when it arrives. _________________ 1978 Sage Green P22 Westfalia

Very cool mirrors, but I think they'd look out of place on a Bus....now on a Type 3, different story! Thanks for posting as I have seen them, but never known the name to search. Wow(!), what a price tag... but then again I am just another cheap VW guy.... _________________

Yes, of course.
It lives atop the Essen trailer tipped up at the back of the garage. _________________ 1978 Sage Green P22 Westfalia

Large windshield washer jets seen on a police Bus in a museum in Germany this summer. No visible part numbers.

A couple of dash shots from the same van. Note the small washer tank, alarm switch, map light, and some other unusual switch below the radio.

Sweet pics!
Funny how there is a small water reservoir Those windshield cannons would deplete it in one squirt. There has to be a bigger tank elsewhere?
What museum? Im going to Germany in April and want to hit all the vw stuff I can. _________________

It is the PS Speicher museum in Einbach Germany. It was just a temporary exhibit celebrating 50 years of the VW Type 2 Kombi. Not sure if it will still be up in April, check the website.

Kind of a dork picture, but...

I did not go to the Bulli museum, I think they loaned a few of the busses for the show

This was for the police - and e.g. for mission at protest march - where not only eggs will be at the windshield...
But only for limited missions - not a multiple days driving thru the mud...
More usual these were used with a bigger water tank in black that shape fits completely to the right side and fit around the headlamps etc.
As with the bumber located washer jets in North Europe like Sweden.
I've seen it in this thread already, but can't find it now... ah, at the classifieds:

Switch below the radio looks like the intermittent Hella wiper switch controller. |
