My '53 has both chassis number and body number, the door tops match the chassis number.

I was under the impression that in 1953 the glass skylights were clear, and not green/blue tinted. My April of 1953 is like this, and I assumed this change happened around the same time the large SEKURIT logo changed and added the other lettering below. As with most changes, it probably didn't happen on Dec 31st.

However, assuming the above info is correct (and I would love to hear what other 53 owners have og clear skylight glass), that would most likely make this a 54-55 bus.

Thanks dude. Different deluxe top as it happens. The one in the link above was up north. Mine is from Regna, down south. "The Regna Deluxe". No thread for this one anywhere, (although CC/RS mentioned it in the "Unknown deluxes thread back in 2007), but hope you liked the read in Hayburner 😉

Well sadly, after closer inspection, this one had to take a trip back to the welders for a huge list of "snags" and unfinished work to be undertaken to put right what appears to have been a very rushed job Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad It's still not all sorted and I'm more out of pocket but I got done what I could. You live and learn eh Confused

Anyway, onwards and upwards. She's now back in the fold and we can go through her properly and correct anything that's still wrong before starting the mechanical build up. My good friends down at BeetleMagic are helping out as usual, and she's currently in good company next to my wifes '58 vert Cool As soon as the bug's rolling we'll be making a start on the deluxe!

Now MOT'd and UK registered after drop spindles, pans, channels, vert strengtheners, inner wing repairs, etc, etc. Still sorting the wheels and rubber, (the ones in the photo are just rollers), and also waiting for the hood stuff from the ever-so-helpful Chuck at Chuck's Convertible parts in the US. Sadly Parcelforce UK f**ked up badly and after holding my parcels for some considerable time despite me chasing them a few times a week, they returned them all to the USA Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad They are very apologetic but that doesn't help get my wife's car on the road any quicker in the UK Autumn weather!

Anyway, Oli & Ben at Beetle Magic kicked ass with the work, and now they're back working on the deluxe for me, unfortunately still putting right work by my previous welder. There's still so much left to do that I think I may be going slightly mad. We'll get there though. It's got to be right so worth the ball ache of doing it again correctly!
