Wow cool project!
Are you planning to keep the frame exposed, like the Atom has? _________________ My 1958 PGSG project topic |

I have done most of the metal work now and will separate chassis for finish with some smooth color coded rhino type coating upside and paint everywhere else. Also for gearbox, drivetrain and engine will be assembled. The "body" will be finished as clean as possible, all weldings smoothened etc.
Today we built a shortblock and I'll continue tomorrow with cylinders, pistons, head etc. Engine will get some cover to keep hot and moving parts away. I'll use a Brazil model fan shroud to keep engine as compact an low. Still plenty to do, but my plan is to get this ready for 2018 summer.
All aluminum sheet metals will be finished like this with my own innovation tool

A Cooler idea would be to save these pictures in your Samba Gallery. They've already started to disappear as you can see. In the end this thread will be worthless. Just Sayin'. _________________ 1960 Convertible |

Before buyin one, I wanted to test with exhaust to see if Empi oilpump with a filter can fit and for sure, there will be space enough. But maybe it is better not to use a serpentine belt, as clearance is not much.
I missed some parts, when i gave my -74 beetle struts to my friend, but then i found some interesting camber tuning parts from silver project
Today i finished reconditioning of the rack&pinion steering and it waits now for assembling
Something for the style
I like to work with clean parts

It was time to remove tho body from chassis and start to finish everything and do the paintwork.
I wanted to know the weight of the body and it's about 180 kg:s. Is it a lot or not, I don't know? My target was about 500 kg:s total.
Chassis is sealed and ready to get undercoat + RAL 7012 Basalt Grey top coat - like the rest of the KART

First parts painted! After so long seek around to choose the right finish, RAL 7012 Basalt Grey will be the colour all around with some yellow details and brushed aluminum.
Looks a bit sexy...?
