I recently picked up a set of my dream wheels Convo Pro. I was amazed to find an NOS set in the original boxes, two of them banded together still. These wheels have always been my favorite since starting my buggy build in 2001.However finding a set is super difficult. I'm looking forward to mounting these onto my Safari Trail Buggy. They are sizes 6 and 4 inches so I'm going to have to do some research on what tire sizes I can run. Is anyone else running these? Post pics if you can!

I bought them from a gentleman who picked up an unfinished dune buggy from a guy. The wheels were too narrow for his project so he put them up on a local Facebook page that I'm a part of. I hit him up and bought them. Centerline stopped making them a long time ago. Finding a set has been amazing as they're my dream wheel.

Convo Pro Stars. Probably the rarest "modern" VW wheel there is. This is set #1 shipped straight from Centerline back when they were first available.

A quick look at recommended wheel widths for different size tires suggests that you could run P145/65R15 up front, but P155/60R15 is not recommended by Continental. You can run anything from a 135r15 up to 165r15 (standard Bug replacement tire.) The thing is, low profile and wide widths won't fit well and your tire shop may not want to install a tire on a rim width condoned by the manufacturer. I've never explored the wide side, but my tire shop told me they wouldn't install a tire on a rim wider than its stated width (on a 5 inch rim they would install a 135r15 tire but not a 125r15 tire.) I'm running a P145/65R15 tire now after discovering just how bad handling and braking was with the super skinny tire.

I scored an Nos pair of 3-1/2's a while back. Then a pair of 6's on EBay.
I still haven't put them to good use yet.
They have been one of my favorite wide five wheels of all time.
