|
|
I have gained access to a rotisserie to use when I paint my 65 resto. It is a factory made rotisserie, not sure brand but really nice unit with hydraulic lift feature. But I am going to have to fabricate the adapters to marry up to the body. The rotisserie has 2 - 2.5 in sq. steel tubes on each stand to attach to.
I have done some drawings of what I will build which utilizes 4 mounting points, the front and rear bumper brackets and the front and rear body mounts.
My question is do I really need all four mounting points or can I get away with just the bumper brackets? All fenders, doors and lids have been removed so just the shell.
Here are the drawings I have for the brackets.

Save yourself some money and use two engine stands instead. _________________ ----------------------

I have free use of the rotisserie and either way I would have to make a jig to match up to the bug. Still looking for and answer to my question. _________________ I love this analog addition to my over digitzed life. |

this guy only used the bumper brackets, would make fabrication of adapter much easier.... any feelings? Are the bumper brackets good enough?

I don't see why they wouldn't. The body isn't that heavy when stripped down like that. |

OK modified my design/drawings for the brackets using the bumper mounts only, this will make the fab much easier.

Without a brace along the bottom of the stand between the two ends, is it stable ? _________________ ----------------------

I've never liked the idea of supporting the body from the bumper brackets. My rotisserie uses a frame that mounts to the heater channels. Look at the rotisseries that Cooker Restoration and Wrenn Metalworks use. They are very experienced. _________________ New Vintage Specialist.

That works as long as you're not replacing the heater channels, or working on the bottom of the body where most of the rust is.
Seems to me that bracing it on the heater channels would be limiting. _________________ ----------------------

this worked out very well, heater channels were replaced before I mounted it on rotisserie. Final paint next weekend. I will post photos. _________________ I love this analog addition to my over digitzed life. |
