Door Panels (Interior)

Has anyone ever come up with an alternative way to attach the door panels to the inside of the door on a Beetle?
I have never had much luck with the factory clips as they are a pain to align and they sometimes pop back out over time.
I remember seeing a Beetle with nicely done metal strips around the outside edge of the door panel but I'm not that talented and don't have the equipment that I imagine you would need to fabricate something like that. Is there someone who makes that kind of thing?

How bout a velcro type strips on the door panel and also on the door itself. Might work. Chuck P
