These are the keys that came with my 1965 when I bought it off the first owner who had the car with him for over 45yrs. And this is not the only thing original to the car. It still has the original anthracite black floor mats on its floor Smile

Your bottom key is a mid 67 and later key. What does it fit?

I had an original key for my 66 and it was a straight key, but the ignition itself went out, so i had to replace it. my replacement is exactly the same as the second one here.

You are right. I just checked in the 65 manual. This aint a 65 original key (the bottom one). Although the top key is correct for 65. It fits the door lock and the decklid.

Thanks for the correction.

My 65 only came with one key off centered without a cut out "the one on the bottom". Found the correct key blank with cut out on line. They called it an "aftermarket" ignition key. Its a little different but works fine. I showed it to my friend with a 63 and his was exactly the same "aftermarket" ignition key. Even the same cut too. we tried both our keys in each others ignitions and they both start. I wonder how many of us have the same damn key.

does your keys look like this???

My 65 KG came with 2 key which PO said were original. These still operate the door lock, but the ignition switch had been replaced.

They look like the bottom one and even have a number punched on it. Wondering if this could be the original key and what profile it is. If I could get a used ignition switch with the same profile, then I could redo the tumblers and make this key work.

It is the original key..... to your repro ignition switch.

Your KG originally used keys starting with SG as the code.

Two different types of keys. A car without a steering lock has but one lock key for the doors and ignition.
A car with a steering wheel lock will have a separate key for ignition and one for the door- a different key type. see below;

You can see in the picture above what the unlockable ignition key looks like however, the steering wheel column lock/key looks like the one below,
