Hi Samba, I just spent a little over 100 hours restoring the interior of my 62 beetle, replacing dash trim, carpet, the whole nine yards. I was absolutely thrilled to take it for a cruise last night after buttoning it all back up.
Drive it downtown to have a drink, head back home and this noise starts. It doesnt make noise at idle sitting still, it doesnt make noise from 0-15mph and then it starts. Smelled a bit like burnt when I got it home finally. I was stoked to take it to a few shows this weekend, Can someone please help me figure this out so I can fix it ASAP! Videos Attached! 1962 Stock 1200 beetle.
Happy Thanksgiving Samba!

Sounds like the speedo cable.
Disconnect cable end and pull it out of left hub, or just temporarily remove the hub cap so it doesn't drive the cable and take for a drive to see if the noise is gone. _________________ -Bruce

Agreed, speedo cable or the speedo itself... it even appears as though the needle is bouncing slightly in the video. _________________ 1960 Ragtop w/Semaphores "Inga" |
