In my 1970 Bus, any time I use my turn signal, my high beams come on. I can turn them off but it is a pain.

Can I repair the switch? How? I looked for a thread on this but no luck.

Thanks!

Post some pics, maybe we can see something obvious.

Busdaddy. I decided just to get a new one. Due to some other needs I will be nursing my existing one along until sometime in December. When I pull it out, I will post photos to share with the brain trust.

FWIW my 911 developed a similar issue s few years back. On the Peilcan BBS they have a “quick fix” for it. I used it and on the third time it failed I decided to just get a replacement.

I hope whoever you bought it from has a longer than 30 day return policy, it often takes 2 or 3 tries before you find a winner, those new switches are the vanguard of "lowest bidder gets the contract" manufacturing.

I was looking at my Bentley for how to replace the turn signal. They want me to remove the ignition switch as part of the listed process. I am thinking that this step is unnecessary. I am thinking I will need to do the following:

1: Disconect the trun sgnal switch from the column.
2: Remove the steering wheel.
3: Loosen steering column from dash board.
4: Disconnect wires from under the dash to allow removal of old switch
5: Pull out old wires
6: Snake in new wires and install on terminals
7: Reverse steps 1-4 to complete.

Thoughts?

Do you use your high beams? Maybe just disconnect that wire.

stop pulling up on the switch arm (it's easy to do) when you're using the turn signal.

I tried that. The switch has a hair trigger. I had a similar issue with my 911. Switch was filing.
