my 79 transport with automatic trans got a new 1700 w Weber carb. Trying to hook up throttle cable. Cable comes from front of bus to a lever on trans then has a rod from top of lever to engine compartment. Rod is threaded on end in compartment. Do I remove rod and modify universal cable. or is there a better idea. I think rod went to FI unit originally. |

You could turn the carb so that the rod would work. Some bending and adjusting of the rod would most likely be required as well. Might be easier to replace the rod with a second cable. Not sure how the tranny would work if you just ran a cable from the gas pedal to the carb as the rod provides feedback to the tranny, telling it how much load the engine is under.
Make sure the carb can't move around. I added a fore-aft running brace between the engine case and the base of the carb so the carb will not move as force is applied to it by the throttle cable. |

Plus one on the brace for the carb base. Easy to fab one up. Mine has a threaded rod with a ball joint end. The ball is on the carb, it just snaps on the ball. The threaded rod gives adjustment. Check for clearance where the rod comes thru the back tin. mike _________________ patience and putty |

Threaded rod sounds like a doable fix Mike, and thanks for advise on the brace |
