Looking to replace transmission -76 914 2.0 (though a 2.2 is going in)
Where to begin finding a solid replacement?

Found Gene in Utah with rebuilt. Has others available as well, if anyone is in need of such a transmission,

Also had set of new 3bolt heads.

914 transmissions are a dime a dozen, but most by now suffer at least first gear problems if not second as well. We have seen few ring gear and pinion problems. The problem is that the parts are expensive, not so much the rebuild labor as long as one has the proper factory tools to reset things like ring gear and pinion depth and to press off the dog teeth. SO one winds up spending 2000 on a rebuild, when one can purchase a used questionable transmission for 250. Just does not make much sense "huh"

Found one from Genno in Utah for reasonable, plus a couple of 2.0 heads.
He even dropped them off in his way through to Portland.
After the car is put back together, I’ll train my sights in that direction.
