Last winter I found the mattress in my "86 camper frozen solid. I would find pooling of water in the back passenger side by the tailgate. Today, in a Portland downpour, I saw water trickling out from under the inside panel. When I pulled it away, I found water dripping out from under the "wallpaper". Is this from a bad window seal?

It is likely from a old leaky seal.

Thank you. Would you try a body shop first or a auto glass shop?

Or would squirting some silicone between the seal/body or seal/glass be sufficient? That's what I plan to try with my own leak in the same place -but mine doesn't sound as bad as the OP's.

The seals are old. Like us, they leak in due time : )
.
Best bet is to order a new seal from one of the great vendors, along with a window install tool/rope all for under $60. Then it is fixed for the next 30 years.
Syncrodoka is correct that there may be a rust hole lurking as well. This is quite common. Are you in the PDX area? We have some good shops, or you could tackle this project on your own (or with a pal). I have done it several times. Not scary just time consuming : )

I replaced the seal and.....it still leaks! Ugh. Any thoughts? There was no visible rust. Living in Portland with a leaky van is a serious bummer
