what was it primed in? The previous owner of my '69 has primed it, but I have no idea what he used. Probably rust oleum or some store bought cheap primer. Wondering if the flats will adhere or do I need to stop and reprise it. Would love to just sand, clean, and paint..

When in doubt test it on the surfaces....if it fails you'll have to start sandiing or stripping anyway. OtOH, if it's OK then spray away.Depends on what you want for the final result. This paint is very forgiving and you can go from "perfect eggshell" to "fast ,cheap 'n'flat" .I do think it would be the perfect paint for a noob's "this is my first DIY paint job", just because it could make any POS look better.More people should be painting their own!
