The wipers I found in the backseat when I bought the car. What holds the arm to the post? I can maybe see a slot for w c-clip but that can't be all.

On my '74 a 10mm nut holds the wiper arm in place.
But before you do that a plastic conical shaft cover goes over everything to snap on to the larger nut by the cowl. Then you add the wiper arm plus that 10mm nut and another cover. Does this makes sense? _________________ '74 Zambezi green Ghia vert, autostick, 101k

You have the wrong arms those are late model arms. The 68 arms attach to the post with a small bolt that is inside the wiper arm. Your wiper pivots are also very badly chewed up and it will be hard to get wiper arms to stay attached. Luckily CIP1 and others carry replacement wiper posts and it is quite easy to change them.

Thanks Brad, that is helpful info. Since my arms are late model, can I buy the later style shafts with my existing motor and linkage? Seems like the later designed shafts with a tapered fit and larger nut are better fitting. |

I don't see why not but I haven't seen a later model wiper assembly up close so I can't tell you if the arms are clocked the same. Also it might not be a bad idea to go later model if you don't care about being 100% correct as the correct wiper arms might be a bit of a challenge to find

Yep, and out of stock for nearly a year. Back in stock, ordered and rebuilt... Finally.

When I found out how expensive the late model wiper arms are ($60+ 70-72 ) I was on a treasure hunt through boxes of parts to find the old one that came off of my project car. Found them and the pair that came on my parts car. I thought they were just regular ol' arms. _________________ Daily driver: '69 Baja owned 44 yrs - Plan B: '81 Rabbit Diesel LS Deluxe - Plan C: '72 Ghia
