Pardon me for using someone else photo here. I would like to know the correct location of the 1956 Beetle rear wheel cylinder location. Should it be on top or at the bottom of the backing plate?

Here is a photo from the service manual showing the back side of the rear brakes. Note the general layout of the brake line going over the axle tube and then down to the cylinder. It shows an earlier four bolt cylinder but the two bolt cylinders are similar.
