Wife and kids took off to Disneyland today so i came home from work to an empty house Itching to do something and remembering always wanting to check out the strange diffusers in my vert taillights. It’s a Aug 9,1955 build date. So I took them apart. I have only seen this type of diffusers in heart taillights. Anyone ever seen this type on snowflakes before ?
No numbers on the lens just Hella logo
only 4 tabs held the lens on no other visible broken tabs

There are at least three different types of diffusers from the two snowflake suppliers: the thin plastic ones shown here, the polystyrene ones w/lots of small bubbles (Hella) and the polystyrene ones with horizontal ridges (Hassia). _________________ Thanks,

And I'm going to leave mine off on my '57 so the lights are brighter! |

I recommend you test that before you button things everything back up. I've seen plenty of times where the snowflakes look washed out and pink when the brake lights are on after the inner filter is removed. If stock isn't the goal some red LED tail lights could really pop behind the paler red lenses. _________________

Found some info on my taillights. I guess they are one year only 1956 taillights ? No numbers on the lens, smooth diffusers and strange brackets.

1956 has one year only glass lenses. but look same as 57-61 glass lenses. |

'56 taillights had smooth diffuser and no part # on glass.'57-'60 had ribbed diffuser and one part# while '61 had fishegg diffuser and two#'s on glass |
