Thanks for the compliment !!
that is a build I was dreaming for years to be able to build an oldspeed engine for one of my car and put my hands on it from start to end.

Fabricating some of the missing part was also something challenging at the start but ended up to be fun trying to find ways to build them based on old pictures.

The lest piece I am looking to get for the engine is to buy a Cebring exhaust from A1 muffler in California. I hope to be able to invest into that last piece by next spring.

You did a fine job working out the "J" bars for the throttle lever extensions- clever solution! Now that you've shown the details, it would be relatively easy to replicate on other dual carb systems that have a similar principle.

So, how does this beastie run? Smooth, stronger acceleration, noticeable improvement with passing ability, and top speed?

Hello,
top speed of the beetle is the same,
high end RPM is were the kit made the difference.
I still run the original exhaust and restaured distributor.

Next upgrade will be 010 distributor and cebring exhaust. It should help reveal the power

Hi, what I did was to connect the manual choke on the left carburator only.
It helps when the engine is cold in cold temperatures.

Great work, nothing like problem solving.
I really appreciate that you detailed your work with photos, which really build up a resource for other enthusiasts.

what a nice job you did sorting out all the issues!

That 'crossbar style' linkage is the best design I've seen for this type of application, be design it's insensative to engane expansion, which you can't say for the many of the other designs. Great job in coming up with a solution to the missing links, too.

I have a question about your cast aluminum Autochnik intake manifolds: The bulge in the center, is there a greater volume than just a straight pipe? (deferring from the constant bore that the Okrasa manifolds have)
