Hi again, I replaced the rebuilt head with a new AMC head. Everything runs fine but I notice my CHT shows I'm running 100F degrees hotter than before. I'm not sure if previous head was maybe running too cold. My VDO CHT bottoms out at 150F degrees (even at freezing) so I may still be within head temp tolerance. The new head came with a note saying use of head gaskets would void the warranty so I didn't install any. They were in place for the previous rebuilt head. Any ideas appreciated.

Thx, Andrew

are you using the same sender and gauge? If so and your head temps are around 375 F - 425 F then more than likely the old heads may have been causing a mis-fire by leaking out the old valves. The new AMC heads have built in ledges that replace the head gaskets so the compression ratio should be about the same.

Also if you got the heads from Len he cleans up the flashing as part of prepping them. If you bought generic AMC heads they can be full of flashing that blocks air from crossing thru the fins. That has to be cleaned up before using them if the vendor didn't do it. Len does a good job of cleaning them.
