He said he thought it was a 1641, I dont have a inside mic to measure cylinder. Is there any way to measure with a tape or ruler? Or do they stamp on the jugs/pistons or rings what size? Hey thanks again for your input.

Pull the heads and look and measure. That is the best way. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

All I find is 1966-67 D0 095050-0234015 listed? mine is D0 854773 not showing a number that close. Is it an aftermarket engine case? And is that case I have a good one for 1641? |

VW Engine Letter Codes
I got one of these cases recently and it seems to be a 1600 case. It has the openings for the 85.5 cylinders it's Dual Relief and it's Inserted. I tried laying a 69mm crank in it and it fit. I don't see any reason it can't make a 1585cc or 1641cc or 1679cc or a 1800cc Type 1 Bug engine. Am I missing something?
It has the Factory VW logo followed by "D" 0 and 6 digits!
