PostPosted: Wed Dec 13, 2017 8:58 am    Post subject: Lower or no too lower Reply with quote

I’ve recently bought a 55 oval that is stock height. Having not dropped a bug for 20 years (I’ve cut torsion bars had sway aways and drop splindle I was wondering what the best way to lower it by only an inch and a half. Nothing invasive The car is stock and I don’t want it slammed just want it sitting on top of the wheels.

Any help appreciated !!!

If you only want 1 1/2 try making sure everything is in trunk, spare, jack and etc. If not low enough get adjustable beam. It would be easiest and not push the track out.

Just do drum brake spindles. Nice ones, not cheapo Chinese crap. CB has nice spindles, and there are plenty of threads already about spindles in this forum. Do you have any pics of your 55 you can post here? There are lots of 54-55 owners that might like to see it, myself included!

Spindles will do 2 1/2 and push the wheels out.

That beetle is begging to be lowered! Is it a 55, or a 56 though?

"Totally stock" and "lowered" are a contradiction. Wink

Nice car, and I think the original stance looks great.

Leave this one stock and get a newer one with a ball joint front end to lower. Much easier.
