The obvious downside to media blasting a bus is the cleanup. A few hours and 50lbs of waste media later and it is back in the shop.

It is not my shop (a friend) but it is a great place to work! When I found this bus I had been looking a swiss cheese so long I didn't think a solid bus existed anymore! After blasting, there were a couple surprises but still a super solid bus! _________________ 1965 walkthrough Sundial |

The only rust I have found is on the passenger floorboard and only slight perforation at that in a 4"x4" area. The only metal work is fixing previous owner issues.
I got sooooo lucky on this bus! _________________ 1965 walkthrough Sundial |

Looks like a previous owner put in a type 3 motor...it is in decent shape so i'll run it while I build a motor with a little more power,

That is the way you want to find those busses my friend, straight and dry.
You are going to have a great bus when done, so dry...👍
How did you keep it from flash rusting after you blasted it wth wet media?
Did you prime it soon after blasting?
Have fun building it. |

The dustless blasting guy added a rust preventative during the final wash, plus we are in AZ where it hasn't rained since last summer.... _________________ 1965 walkthrough Sundial |

The front had a few more surprises than I originally thought. The nose had been replaced with another (looks like they used another bus as it was red when he blasted it).
there are also a few bumps and wrinkles that need to be worked out too...

Now to attend to the rust....I can say that this is definitely the only rust bit on the whole bus. I still cannot believe how dry this bus was!!
