So my wife's bus horn has not worked since we purchased the bus. While changing the steering wheel I decided to try to find out why. Everything I see online shows a single horn wire going from horn button, through column and out to horn. What I see is 2 wire at the horn going up through the floor with the speedo cable and leads into the fuse box at fuse 12. What am I missing? _________________ Troy |

the horn is under the left front side. It should have 2 wires coming from it. One will always have 12V when the bus is running. You can turn the key to on when testing but you must remove the wire from the coil to the distributor or it may damage the ignition circuit if it is left on too long.
The other wire acts as a ground when the horn button is pushed. To test you measure for the 12V. If you don't have 12V on one of the wires then the fuse is probably bad. If you do have 12V then put that wire back on the horn, and run a jumper between the other spade lug and ground. Does the horn honk? If yes then the problem is between the other wire and the horn button assembly. If the answer is no it still doesn't honk then the horn is bad. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
