Came across this pic of a local pressed bumper 23 window from back in the day. It almost looks like a wrap, and that sunroof fabric color is interesting.🤔

Holy crap, that is badass.
Maybe it's a '58? They supposedly had light sunroof covers

About 15 years ago I was driving my old turkis kombi, and a guy approached me in a restaurant parking lot to talk Volkswagens. He told me that either his family owned the Ruth salad Company, or his father worked there. He told me how he had one of those buses back in the 1970s. He told me they were insulated in the cargo area and if I recall correctly, a compressor set above the engine in the cargo area and ran off of an auxiliary belt driven via the crankshaft pulley???? Either way if you notice the cargo Handle in the picture, the buses definitely look modified. Part of his story was that he had a 1959 panel bus, And he stripped it out and made it into a quasi camper, and that he and some friends actually rolled it over on its side on a back road camping trip. He told me they simply rolled it back on its wheels and kept going |
