Have tried cleaning/polishing the oxidation on the headlight lenses. A source for new?

Try sanding all of the oxidized plastic & previous attempts of restoration off first, this is how I restore them.

Or try the parts resources here...

Restoring lens is a lot like restoring paint.

Wet sand off the bad stuff and then keep sanding off the scratches left with finer sand paper grit. When you get to 2k grit, you get to a polish and then you are done. It does take a lot of work. Using power tools can help but the plastic will melt if you are too impatient. Get a wet sanding pad too.

It's not something you can do in a few minutes like you see on TV.

I had mine "restored" at the dealer 5 years ago, it was a good deal, but they weathered again so last December I replaced them with new Hella ones I found at ECS.
There is a lot of garbage on ebay so be careful in your selection.
They were about twice the price of "replacement brand" but had much better reviews than replacement brands.
This was not a cheap repair on my 17 year old Passat, but I work swing shift so 50% of my driving at night.
