little bit more done today.
got the body of the chassis.

once the body was off i could mock it up at ride height with the wheels on to see how it looked.

then it was time to add some braces to the shell before cutting out the bulkhead, front inner wings and the entire rear inner section.

yes all the good bits of the shell have been sold on to save other type3,s

the shell is only this good because i repaired it 7 years ago as it was a complete rust bucket, i replaced the whole front end and the entire bottom 6" off the shell.
the shell is a 72 with a 67 front clip welded on and shell fitted with all early panels Smile

as im going to use a supercharger set up of a jaguar xjr i ordered all the bits and they all came this week and i just had to bolt it all together. Smile

i love the look of this set up, its going to look killer under the bonnet of the fassty.


on with building the chassis jig tomorrow so should be able to start building very soon. Very Happy

finally got to finnish up the jig which the fassty will be built on today.

it can be moved around on the castors and when building it can be leveled up on the adjustable feet. more than happy with the way it came out. should be able to get on with the chassis this week. Smile

on with the chassis this week. started on the rear kick ups, welded them up and set them up at ride height with a wheel to make sure its all as i wanted.

bell housing needs taking off so it can be machined to fit the roversd1 flywheel. i also will be making an adaptor plate to mate the mazda rx8 gearbox to the rover v8 engine so if anyone is intereseted just give me a shout.

before i centre it up and fix it to the chassis jig at ride height i need to stretch the front wings about 6" so i can start to sort the front end of the chassis. stretching the front wings will give me that pro mod look im after and also give me a bit more room in the engine bay.

did a quick sketch of what im after.

got one of the front wings stretched tonight. once i had worked out how i was going to do it i just cut it, made some filler panels and tacked them in place.
