Looks like two of our biggest and favorite vendors are gettin' hitched.
I hope they retain the same great service and products we've enjoyed over the years!

Noooooo! I used to get shipments literally next day cause I live close !
And what about the cookies? I bet RMW drops those in the cost cutting. Well, hope it works out! Although consolidation is rarely good for end consumer... _________________ '87 Westy 1.8T Conversion, Orignal Owner, European Delivery @ Westfalia factory in Weidenbrueck.

To the extent that it was motivated by sustainability or survival - then it may be a positive move compared to the alternative. |

Not getting into politics, but I suspect a lot of ^that in the near future... for better or worse.
I wish the joint-venture much success and hope things stick around longer than the other Rocky Mountain VW parts business (i.e. Rocky Mountain Motorworks). _________________ ~Kamz

I wish them all the best. Peter deserves a nice retirement. With some of the Cali crew moving to Colorado hopefully the vibe will remain. It seems like a good mix of talent, and maybe further new products will be forthcoming.
Better a merger than just a closure.
Good luck to all involved! _________________ Currently:

it is not a joint-venture or a merger
it is really a closure, but fortunately the dregs will be picked up by RMW

i always like to applaud individuals that make changes in their life and situation so congratulations to Peter and the crew. you gave exemplary service, were honest, and knew that saving a customer $6 in shipping was a big deal. Thank you for the parts and service!
and a challenge to RMW-- you've got big shoes to fill and a high bar to jump. i'll bring my business to you, try you out, have some patience for the inevitable teething pains, but in the long run you'll need to earn my business. i truly hope this goes well and you have my initial support. cookies would be nice.

I'm sad too. Being in NorCal it was nice getting parts fast. And unlike GW, Peter was really good about keeping parts for 1.9s.
The guys ate RMW are great too. So as long as they keep VC"s great stock, it should be good. _________________ 1985 Tintop 4 sp GW 2.3 “Connie”

I will really miss stopping in at the ol' Volks Café during my California road trips. I always took the opportunity to book some some shop time, pick up some parts or just say hello to Peter and the gang.
I wish everyone involved all the success they deserve but I will sure miss them in Santa Cruz! _________________ 89 Syncro GL Westfalia 2.1 WBX/WBXaustSS

hardly
don't believe the press releases - they are trying to put a happy face on it
well, this buy-out of the residue is happy for RMW, not for W. coast customers _________________ .... |

It's not good news for any of us owed restitution on service issues. But Peter's a good guy and we have faith.
Regardless, he deserves a lot of rest and stick time, and it's cool three of our favorite employees there will be moving to our state of 33 years.

I wish the transition well! Van Cafe is my favorite parts vendor.
I hope they get a new website... Or atleast start hashing account password. FYI if you do a "forget password" on a website and they email you your password = bad news. So DON'T use your regular passwords on their site. If they were to get hacked the hacker would have your email and password.
I doubt this would happen but thought id let my fellow sambas know. _________________ Brandon

Two great companies getting together. This is a hugely positive thing in my book. Both companies ship instantaneously. I’ve always gotten 3 day delivery from Santa Cruz to the middle of the country. Now it’s going to be even better. |
