Long story short, I'm too chicken shit to cut a giant hole in my new cargo floor to accommodate the stock floor drain. I'm thinking about running the drain pipe to a small piece of PVC and connecting to a length of flexible tubing that fits into a removable collection tank. Has anyone done something like this? I'm thinking that I wouldn't need anything larger that 2-3 gallons so long as it's easy enough to remove and dump out.

Cheers,
Seth

How often do you use the sink? My favorite solution was an easily removable stainless steel dog bowl used as a sink, so you just fill it gradually and dump it outside as needed. Easier to remove for transporting large cargo, too.

To be honest, I've never used it besides to test the pump. I just got the bus back together and on the road. Figure I'll just use it every once in awhile

Cheers,

The sink in my '69 camper doesn't have a drain. I find it very handy for loose change and temporary storage of small items. It's easily removed and I use it occasionally for bathing.

The sink in our 79 is connected to a plastic jug under the water container via flexible hose. The jug holds more than the supply tank, and can be removed by unscewing the hose clamp.

I got rid of the dumb black 1 1/2" pipe and went with a standard RV P-trap like the Vanagon Westfalia has

I ran clear tubing and installed a small holding tank under the bus:

I have a collapsible 5 gallon water tank and flex hose. Rarely gets used. Tank is collapsed when empty with bottled water on top of it so amount of water is smaller than tank. There is a removable shelf between tank and water bottles. As the tank expands the shelf comes out. My 1970 has the stove/sink/fridge set up out of a 78 Westphalia.

The P-trap just runs down to the adaptor out the floor like before. Increased my sink cabinet shelf size into the back left corner.

I made a new plate for under the floor out of stainless 16ga sheet, but with a smaller hole

Right on, I like this solution a lot, still have to drill a hole, but very small compared to the original. It's also nice and cheap which is a big plus Cool

Thanks for the input everyone !
