Hi,
I have a march 53 oval with his original hood handle and recently found an extra one. Does somebody knows if there was différents model of handle, mine has no mark or logo outside but this one wears like a shell logo at the bottom.
As you can see it's marked with à vw and huf logo in the inner face.
Thanks you for the information you have about this 😊

Yes it'd à way to explain it but if you look closer it's perfectly symetric and seems to have been molded..
So I'd curious to get more information
Thanks

Is your car a zwitter or an early oval? Zwitter hood handles are aluminum. |

Zwitter hood handles were solid aluminum. The next design was this one, in chrome plated pot metal. Shortly afterwards, the backside of the handle was hollowed out somewhat. I doubt that the feature in question is a mark. it looks more like damage from overtightening the screw, followed by the chrome layer fracturing at the highest stress points. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"

pot metal is the correct English expression !
car in question is an early oval, so thinking door and hood handles both should be pot metal.
I also think that the 'mark' comes from overstressing. Pot metal does strange things when overtightened. not qite like cast iron, but it stretches a bit and than cracks suddenly with rough cracks. _________________ Hotrods, Fords, Veedubs and Triumph Twins !
