Teflon tape, of course! Why didn't I think of that. I keep some of that in my toolbox at all times.

awesome thread. I'm having the same issue with on my 76 with progressive carb (I know, get the duals.....) The idle speed is all over the place and it dies on deceleration/stoplights. I'll check the vacuum booster hose. I did rejet as per air-cooled.et recommendations. wondering if that's the culprit.

before rejet after reject

Primary Air connector jet 160 160
Secondary Air connector jet 165 180
Accelerator pump jet 50 55
Primary Idle Jet 60 50
Secondary Idle Jet 50 60
Primary Main Jet 137 130
Secondary Main Jet 140 180

Did you rejet because of issue? Did it ever have the original jet configuration running well?

two reasons for the rejet when I got it

1. I rebuilt/cleaned the carb and noted that there was spooge everywhere, in the air filter, plugs where nasty, had rust/junk in float bowl. So I assumed it was running rich and needed a good cleaning and rejet (Also resealed my gas tank, new fuel lines)

2. trying to get lame progressive carb to work better per air-cooled.net recommendations.

idk maybe i should go back to how it was jetted and see what happens. maybe it just needed a good cleaning. The more I research though, it sounds like it could be my brake booster losing vacuum upon deceleration. Idle is kind of irregular but only dies when I come to a stop/slow down.
