Hey guys I have decided to try a little boost on my California speedster. I was curious as to how much is safe on a 1600 |

You have to give some type of supporting information to get a real answer. Some people (Clonebug) are pushing mid 20lbs right now. If you don't have an intercooler and means of keeping IATs down, 8lbs is about all you can do. We need more info. _________________ -74 Standard - "CaliBug" 2084T, MS3X w/FI and Crank Fire

I’ve not got a whole lot of miles on my stock 1600 single port but it sees 5-8 psi with the gt15 turbo.
I am not locked on the timing. I have a boost retard box. |

I don't know what kind of boost the AMR can put out, but with forged 85.5mm pistons and cylinders, you should be able to do above 20 lbs. _________________ -74 Standard - "CaliBug" 2084T, MS3X w/FI and Crank Fire

All I plan on is 5-8 pounds nothing over 10 for sure because this is my first supercharger I’ve ever dealt with and I don’t want to go too crazy with it. I figure if this goes ok I can move up and try bigger things |

I just happen to know someone who is working on the same thing. I saw it in the design stage but he now has it running for the first time.
He is using Fuel Injection but the mounting system and how it all ties together is quite impressive.
He has a video of the first startup.
Take a look at his FaceBook page......Mario at "thedubshop"

one main weak point is going to be the 4 dowel crank/flywheel. Stock cast pistons too. _________________ It's just advice, do whatever you want with it!

Scat gland nut, 350 ft-lbs
It'll work.
I'd gear it for for 6-8 lbs
Try it, if you don't like it then try something else. All you can do. |

I ran a Toyota supercharger on a stock 1600, 8psi seemed to be it's happy limit, i did have it up to 10psi for a while but I wouldn't run over that if you want it to last _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

I don't think there is a way to measure that. I suspect it is a theoretical value done with a calculator. |

Im running 7psi on a stock 1600 DP (Mahle pistons and chevy valve springs are only mods) with a t3 50 trim. No issues so far. Keep in mind, I converted to EFI which keeps AFRs perfecltly at 12.8:1 under boost.

I'm still developing this, but I am really happy with everything so far. Even though I love turbos the added torque from a supercharger is pretty great. Once I have the platform all ironed out, I would like to add a turbo in addition to the supercharger A couple weeks after this video I put on my small pulley to see what kind of boost I could achieve. My goal has been 1bar. Although I am not sure I can get there right now I was able to make 9psi at 2000rpms. It makes for a 1600 that drives like a 2L The new problem is heat management at this boost level. I will be going back up in pulley size to lower the heat output of the supercharger to find that happy medium of power and efficiency without additional cooling.
